The end of the year is fast approaching and we are delighted to share two pieces of excellent news with you to get 2020 off to a great start! Firstly, a new strategic international partnership has just been agreed between the Michelin Guide, TripAdvisor, and TheFork. Secondly, the international network of TheFork partner restaurants is going to be extended via the acquisition of Bookatable, present on five new markets, namely the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Finland, and Norway.

What are the reasons behind this new partnership?

The Michelin Guide is partnering with TripAdvisor® and TheFork to offer internet users an even more varied selection of high-quality restaurants across the world. In effect, the Michelin Guide, TripAdvisor, and its subsidiary TheFork are signing a partnership agreement designed to combine the gastronomic expertise of the Guide Michelin with the power of TripAdvisor's worldwide audience, and TheFork's market-leading restaurant booking system.

The restaurants listed in the Michelin Guide will soon be bookable on TheFork

The 14,000 restaurants selected by the Michelin guide's inspectors all over the world will be identified on the TripAdvisor website and apps by their ratings: Stars, Bib Gourmand, and Plate, to optimize the visibility of the Michelin selection. In addition, 4,000 restaurants in Europe will soon be accessible and bookable on TheFork and on the Michelin Guide's digital platform, much to the delight of gourmets.

The presence of TheFork becomes even stronger in Europe

TheFork is also acquiring Bookatable by Michelin. This acquisition is enabling TheFork to strengthen its European presence and to become established in five new countries: the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Finland, and Norway. Good news for users of TheFork because the 14 000 restaurants that are bookable via Bookatable are joining 67 000 TheFork's partner restaurants, thus making it the world market leader in the online restaurant booking sector.

The interview with Bertrand Jelensperger, Senior Vice-President of TripAdvisor Restaurants and CEO at TheFork.

"We are delighted to welcome Bookatable by Michelin to the big TripAdvisor family. This partnership enables us to continue the development of our business and our geographical expansion so we can support even more restaurateurs in the digitization of their businesses and offer an optimized service to our customers. »

What does the Michelin Guide think of this strategic partnership?

"With more than 120 years in the creation of gastronomic guides and restaurant recommendation based on the opinions of inspectors and independent experts, this strategic partnership between Michelin and TripAdvisor will offer unprecedented visibility to establishments listed in the Michelin Guide, across the world." states Scott Clark, member of the Michelin Group's Executive Committee.. "By combining the Michelin Guide's unique restaurant selection criteria with the TripAdvisor travel planning platform, we are making the Michelin Guide's selections accessible to most customers across the world."
