How To Improve Your Restaurant’s Ranking on TheFork

Table of content

Break into the Top 100 Community Choice and become more visible to diners with our helpful tips for gastro-success.

TheFork UK hosts thousands of restaurants across the country on its booking platform, helping diners find their new foodie favourites from a wide variety of cuisines and dishes from all types of restaurant.

However, this means the need for restaurants to be easily discoverable and highly visible to as many diners as possible is more important than ever. The Top 100 Community Choice chart gives the top-performing and most-loved establishments a chance to reach new customers on TheFork.

This monthly selection highlights the top 10, 50, and 100 restaurants in the UK, both country-wide and in individual cities, right on TheFork’s app and website.

Restaurants included in these rankings will increase their visibility to TheFork UK diners and gain the accolade of becoming a top-ranked restaurant. Impressing customers and serving delicious food will all help your restaurant rise up the rankings, but we’ve listed a few top tips below for making sure you’re ranking highly to TheFork diners.

Increase the number of customer bookmarks for your restaurant

The “bookmark” feature allows TheFork users to save a restaurant or bar so that they can easily find it again later. They may also bookmark their favourite places to return to again and again. The Top Community Choice chart takes into consideration the number of bookmarks a restaurant has, as an indicator of what’s popular with TheFork users both locally and country-wide.

To get users bookmarking your restaurant, assess what you can do to improve your listing and impress potential new customers. High-quality photography or a memorable cover image can catch diners’ attention - and promoting a temporary or future discount might lead users to bookmark and return when the promotion is live.

Encourage reviews and increase your average rating

Once your restaurant has collected more than 20 ratings and 5 written reviews from TheFork users, it will be eligible for inclusion in the Top 100 Community Choice chart. However, without a favourable set of reviews and ratings, it’s unlikely you’ll appear alongside other outstanding restaurants. The majority of restaurants that rank high enough to feature in the chart have a customer rating of higher than 9.0, so you’ll need to make sure that your diners always leave happy and satisfied.

TheFork will encourage users to leave reviews on restaurants that they have visited - but if you’re struggling to get feedback, try reaching out to previous diners via digital marketing channels like social media, email or SMS, and politely ask them to leave a review on their experience.

Be reliable and accurate

Lastly, ensure that all of your restaurant information, like opening hours or street address, is correct and up-to-date on your listing on TheFork. Confusing or vague details can lead to bad customer reviews and reduced discoverability. If customers book via TheFork, try to avoid cancelling their booking if possible, as this can also have a negative impact on restaurant ranking if done too many times.
